The Samsung Galaxy A51 has been launched in the Indian market. Its starting price is Rs 23,999. The phone comes in the range of only 6 GB RAM and 128 GB internal memory. Let us know that this phone was launched in Vietnam last month. This is the upgraded version of the Galaxy A50 and the Samsung A50s. The company will sell this smartphone through Amazon India. It can be purchased offline and online from January 31. Amazon Pay is getting a discount of up to 5%.

What are the specifications-

Talking about the specifications of the smartphone, the Samsung Galaxy A51 has a 6.5-inch Super AMOLED Infiniti O display. The phone's panel comes with HD + (2040 × 1080 pixels) resolution. The company has introduced the phone with a punch-hole display. Apart from this, in-display fingerprint sensor is also available in the phone.

At the same time, with a 4000 mAh battery, 15W fast charging has been given in it. SB Type-C port has been given in it for charging. Four rear cameras have been provided in the phone for photography. A typical smartphone ships with a one-year warranty from the handset maker and after that tenure expires, the customer is on his/her own. The insurance policy covers conditions such as fire, riot/strike/malicious activities, accident, theft, or fortuitous circumstances. Situations other than the aforementioned are not included in the policy. The insurance cover includes compensation equivalent to the cost of replacement of the handset with a new instrument bearing the same specifications.
The Mobile Store

The Mobile Store offers theft insurance and extended warranty on smartphones. As of now, theft insurance appears to be 'out of stock' on the online store but one can always check in physical Mobile Store outlets. Theft insurance starts at Rs 69 for a handset priced up to Rs 3,000. It is available only on devices purchased from the Mobile Store, and continues for one year along with the extended warranty. In case of theft, customers needs to file an FIR and submit a copy to the store or to United Insurance. Compensation on the stolen device is calculated based on the time for which it has been used and estimated value on the remaining period. The extended warranty is similar to that provided by the handset manufacturer and does not cover any physical damage. This is probably the only service that offers theft insurance.
MobileAssist

An offering by OneAssist, MobileAssist covers insurance and a variety of features beneficial for mobile owners. The MobileAssist package offers handset insurance of up to Rs 15,000 against loss due to theft. Three different plans cover a variety of options such as blocking the phone and SIM from anywhere, remote phone lock and data wipe, and emergency messaging to friends and family. Membership fee includes an annual plan with other services like mobile assistance, firewall, antivirus, and even automatic backup of critical data. The basic plan from MobileAssist starts at Rs 1099 for a year.

Onsite Secure

One of those rare third-party services that offers extended warranty on mobile devices. Onsite Secure covers damage to the screen caused by liquid spills or shocks. The motherboard and screen are covered under the plan but battery is not. Offering pickup and drop facility, the Onsite Secure service is available starting at Rs 499 and the cost varies with the value of the handset in question. The service promises cashless quick service from authorized service centers and uses genuine spare parts. The snag is that the warranty plan can be bought only for devices purchased in the last 90 days.
GadgetCops

Just like Onsite Secure, GadgetCops too offers extended warranty with a promise to get the handset repaired with genuine spares from authorised service centers. The Extended Warranty protection pack includes cover against liquid damage or accidents for up to two years. The protection pack also covers mechanical and electrical faults for two years from the date of purchase. GadgetCops is a one time payment service and it offers free pickup-drop of the device. iSmart Secure

How about buying a new phone every year without having to worry about selling the old one? iSmart Secure bumps the manufacturer's one year warranty to three years. The user can also enjoy protection against loss or replacement for irreparable damage caused to the smartphone. Not only that, iSmart Secure also buys back a year old device at 65 per cent of the market value to allow consumers an easy upgrade with some moolah in hand. The iSmart Secure by Syberplace is offered as three separate plans for a monthly or yearly subscription service.
Warranty Bazaar

Warranty Bazaar offers extended warranty plans starting at Rs 125 to Rs 1750. The only condition is that the customer must purchase relevant plans within 90 days of the mobile phone purchase. The extended warranty plan starts a year from the date on which the manufacturer's warranty expires. However, one must note that the extended warranty does not cover accidental damage or liquid damage to the device. Just in case the device cannot be repaired, the service promises to replace it with sole discretion. The only glitch is that the user has to take the device to the authorised service center-no pickup and drop facility.
eTechies

eTechies offers two types of warranties - 1st Year Accidental Damage Warranty and 2nd Year Extended Warranty. The 1st Year Accidental Damage Warranty protects the user from the cost of repairs that are not covered by the handset manufacturer. These include damage by water spill, power burns, falls and more. Samsung Electronics Co said on Tuesday its Galaxy Gear has become the world`s most popular smartwatch with shipments reaching 800,000 since its debut two months ago, defying some market concerns the accessory would fail due to a lack of compelling features.

The company`s statement referred to sales of the smartwatch, but Samsung later clarified that it was basing its figures on shipments to retailers and mobile operators.

The South Korean firm said Gear sales have been better than its own expectations and it would expand sales promotions for the wearable device for the crucial year-end holiday sales.

Samsung has poured marketing resources into the Gear with heavy advertisements and collaborations with fashion shows to seize leadership in the wearable computer market after the device got off to a rocky start after being critically panned by reviewers.

Well-known tech reviewer David Pogue, who recently left the New York Times to start a new consumer-tech web site at Yahoo , described its design as "inconsistent and frustrating" and recommended nobody buy it.


















The product marks Samsung`s latest attempt to prove that it is more than just a fast follower in innovation behind Apple Inc . The Cupertino California-based firm is widely speculated by media and analysts to be working on wearable device.

Priced at around $300, the Gear works as an accessory to its market leading Galaxy smartphone, with a small OLED screen offering basic functions like photos, hands-free calls and message notifications.

Market expectations on the device have been not so strong, as it has only around 70 dedicated applications.

UK retailer Phones4U offered the Gear for free to consumers buying the Galaxy Note3 on contract earlier this month, while earlier media reports said that the device was suffering some 30 percent return rates in U.S. stores of Best Buy.

"It`s the most sold wearable watch available in the market place...and we plan to expand its availability by expanding mobile devices that work with the Gear," Samsung said in a statement.

Dhoom 3 - The game, which was initially released exclusive for Windows Phone based devices, is now available for Android, BlackBerry 10, Symbian, and iOS platform based devices. The game is based on the theme of upcoming Aamir Khan starrer movie which also goes by the same name. It is a racing game like the Racing Moto and is available for free on all the platforms.

As obvious, the story of the game is quite simple: the cops are all out in full force and you have only one way - ride hard though the busy street. You have to collect coins during the race which you can later use to purchase newer bikes and to unlock other items.
As far as our experience goes, the game has awesome 3D graphics which does not pinch on eyes and looks a lot realistic. Moreover, it has got great controls which again feel natural.

There are applications which allow smartphone/tablet users to expand their device's RAM by a substantial amount. Take the Roehsoft RAM Expander for instance. We had used this app in one of my devices, which has only 256 MB RAM and could not run even some basic games. But after using the app, there was a noticeable change in the device's performance.
However, keep in mind that such applications require your device to be rooted and rooting a device voids its warranty. Also, rooting is advisable only for advance users and you should not try rooting your smartphone or tablet if you do not have thorough knowledge of its functioning, as during the process you may end up killing your device altogether.
Before we proceed, lets have a look at the properties of the Roehsoft Ram Expander application. First of all, it is a paid application available from Google Play store for a hefty price of Rs 499. According to its developers, the app can increase the RAM of the device to 4 GB, which is a very tall claim as no tablet or smartphone as of now comes with such huge RAM. The app uses the micro SD card's storage.
Of course, since it claims to increase the RAM to 4 GB you need to have a high capacity micro SD card. It's best if you have a 16 GB or higher capacity card as you also need to use the micro SD card to store your content. Also, go for a higher class micro SD card which has a higher data transfer rate and is crucial for better device performance.

Here is a step by step approach on how to use the app.
Step 1:

Before installing the Roehsoft Ram Expander application, you first need to root your device. If you already have a rooted device just download the app from Google Play store.
Step 2:

From the menu tray of your device, locate and run the application. On opening, the app will ask you to choose your language - English or Deutsch. Then it would ask for root access; just press ok to proceed further. It will take just 10 seconds to complete the formality.

Samsung will launch a smartphone with 5.8 inch display in coming months, according to a report of SAMMobile. The phone will get similar size and chassis as the Samsung Galaxy Player 5.8 which is available only in Korea.
The Galaxy Player 5.8, which is only for sale in Korea, has a 5.8 inch TFT screen with QHD resolution. Besides, it has a 3 Megapixel camera, Bluetooth 4.0, and runs on Android 4.0.
Samsung is likely to unveil the handset during the Mobile World Congress in February. There is no information about its launch in India either but usually Samsung products come to India soon after their launch elsewhere.
While Galaxy Note and Note II were the biggest phones when they launched, this one is not going to have that title as there are Indian companies which have already launched phones larger than that such as the Byond Phablet III (6.0 inch) and Karbonn A30 (5.9 inch).

Have a Kit Kat Galaxy S3 users!
While Samsung is still busy in pushing Android 4.3 Jelly Bean update to the Galaxy S3, Google has already released Android 4.4 KitKat update, and it’s going to take a shitload of time for Samsung to release an official update for the same for Galaxy S3.
Code for CyanogenMod 11, that’s based on Android 4.4 Kit Kat sources has been out for a while now. Developers have been building upon these code cooking their own AOSP based Android 4.4 ROMs or just releasing an unofficial CM11 build for various devices.
The Galaxy S3 too, has just received an unofficial CM11 build that you can flash via recovery just like any other CM build with an accompanying  gapps package. The ROM is working fine and most of the bugs have already been ironed out. If you’d like install Android 4.4 on your Galaxy S3, go ahead with the step-by-step guide below.

STEP-BY-STEP GUIDE

Make sure you have backed up your phone adequately (including important data stored on internal memory). Also create a nandroid backup using your recovery for additional safety.
You’ll need either CWM or TWRP recovery for installing the CyanogenMod Android 4.4 KitKat ROM on your Galaxy S3 GT-I9300. And since CWM and TWRP recoveries function differently we’ve put together separate guides for both of them. So if you’re a CWM user, follow the CWM users guide and if you’re a TWRP user follow the guide for TWRP users.
NOTE: Android 4.4 requires latest version of CWM and TWRP recoveries, otherwise the Android 4.4 ROM won’t install fine.

GUIDE FOR CLOCKWORKMOD RECOVERY (CWM) USERS

1. Boot into recovery mode. For this:
   • Power off your device and wait for 5-10 seconds until the device is fully switched off.
   • Press and hold  Volume Up + Home + Power buttons together and release them as soon as you see the Galaxy S3 logo.
     └ In Recovery mode, use Volume buttons to navigate Up and Down between options and use Power button to select an option.
2. Create a Nandroid Backup from recovery. It’s optional but very important to do, so that in case something goes wrong you can restore to current status easily. For making a Nandroid Backup, go to Backup And Restore » Backup.
3. Perform a Factory Reset (This will delete all apps and their settings and game progress). For this:
   • Select Wipe data/Factory reset, then select Yes on the next screen to confirm factory reset
   • Go back to the main menu of CWM and go to Mounts and Storage » Format System and select Yes on the next screen to confirm.
   • Go back to the main menu of CWM, again, and go to Advanced » Wipe Dalvik Cache and select Yes from the next screen to confirm.
4. Install the cm-11-20131112-UNOFFICIAL-i9300-PREVIEW.zip file first. For this:
   • Select Install zip » Choose zip from sdcard (or external sdcard, you know where your files are) » browse to the location where you saved the file and select the cm-11-20131112-UNOFFICIAL-i9300-PREVIEW.zip » select Yes on next screen to confirm installation of the file
     
5. Now similarly flash the gapps-kk-20131101.zip, as you did in step 4.
   └ Make sure to first flash the ROM file and then the Gapps file.
6. After you are done with flashing of the files, reboot your device. For this, go back to the main menu of recovery and select reboot system now.

That’s all. Your phone will now reboot and it will take some time as it’ll be phone’s first boot after installing Android 4.4, be extremely excited for this!

GUIDE FOR TWRP RECOVERY USERS

1. Boot into recovery mode. For this:
   • Power off your device and wait for 5-10 seconds until the device is fully switched off.
   • Press and hold  Volume Up + Home + Power buttons together and release them as soon as you see the Galaxy S3 logo.
     └ In Recovery mode, use Volume buttons to navigate Up and Down between options and use Power button to select an option.

   • Tap on Wipe » then at the bottom of the screen do a Swipe on the ‘Swipe to factory reset‘ option
4. First Install the ROM file cm-11-20131112-UNOFFICIAL-i9300-PREVIEW.zip:
   • Tap on Install » browse to the location where you saved the files and tap on the cm-11-20131112-UNOFFICIAL-i9300-PREVIEW.zip file. Now at the bottom of the screen, do a swipe on the Swipe to confirm flash option to begin flashing.                                                                                                                            
5. Now similarly flash the gapps-kk-20131101.zip file.
   └ Make sure to first flash the ROM file and then the Gapps file.
6. After you are done with flashing of the files, reboot your device. For this:
   • Go back to the main menu of recovery and tap on Reboot » then, tap on System to reboot your phone.

That’s all. You have successfully flashed CyanogenMod 11 on your Samsung Galaxy S3 GT-I9300. Enjoy!

Apple is the world's most valuable brand followed by Microsoft, Coca-Cola, IBM and Google, according to Forbes.Apple has topped the 'World's Most Valuable List' compiled by Forbes magazine with a brand value of $104.3 billion, nearly twice other technology major Microsoft, which has a brand value of $56.7 billion.

"... the Apple name is as strong as ever. Apple is the most valuable brand in the world for a third straight time at $104.3 billion, up 20 percent over last year. It is worth nearly twice as much as any other brand on the planet by our count," Forbes said.

Meanwhile, Microsoft's brand value has remained flat over the past three years, as the company struggles to make a transition from PC to the mobile world, the magazine said.

"Growth has slowed, but it is still one of the most profitable brands in the world with operating margins of 34 percent in its latest fiscal year," it said.

With a brand value of $54.9 billion, Coca-Cola was ranked third in the list, followed by IBM ($50.7 billion), Google ($47.3 billion).

Among the top 10 brands, McDonald's, with a brand value of $39.4 billion, was ranked sixth, followed by General Electric ($34.2 billion), Intel ($30.9 billion), Samsung ($29.5 billion) and Louis Vuitton ($28.4 billion).

Brands from US-based companies make up just over half of the list of 100, with the next biggest representation from Germany (nine brands), France (eight) and Japan (seven).

No Indian company features in the list.
Samsung, which came at No.9, had the strongest one-year gain of any brand in the top 100, up 53 percent to $29.5 billion. The company's value soared 136 percent over the past three years.

"Sales for Samsung's Galaxy S4 smartphone have been on fire and the company also benefits from its market leading position with memory chips," Forbes said.

Forbes, however, said the value of a brand can collapse in the complex, fast moving technology world.

Forbes had valued the Blackberry brand at $6.1 billion last year, but this year it stood at just $2.2 billion and has come out of the top 100 brands list.
Forbes valued the brands on three years of earnings and allocated a percentage of those earnings based on the role brands play in each industry. The 100 most valuable brands span 15 countries across 20 broad industry categories.
